Sancti Spíritus province’s greatest attraction is the city of Trinidad, declared a World Heritage Site, together with the Valle de los Ingenios. Founded in 1514 by Diego Velázquez, as the township of the Santísima Trinidad, the so called Museum City is classified among the best conserved in Cuba and Latin America, with an environmental coherence that has not changed with the years. The 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries are present in constructions styles and the decorations of old stately mansions, some of which are today museums. There tourists can enjoys its beaches, hiking walks and contact with the past and current history. Trinidad can be reached by road or by its airport that can operate small and medium size aircrafts.
