Sancti Spíritus province’s greatest attraction is the city of Trinidad, declared a World Heritage Site, together with the Valle de los Ingenios. Founded in 1514 by Diego Velázquez, as the township of the Santísima Trinidad, the so called Museum City is classified among the best conserved in Cuba and Latin America, with an environmental coherence that has not changed with the years. The 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries are present in constructions styles and the decorations of old stately mansions, some of which are today museums. There tourists can enjoys its beaches, hiking walks and contact with the past and current history. Trinidad can be reached by road or by its airport that can operate small and medium size aircrafts. Is one of the most visited destines of Cuba. Trinidad has 1286 rooms, distributed in 8 hotels headed by the Iberostar Trinidad and Motel Las Cuevas.

Sports & nature

The colonial town is located between the ocean and the Guamuhaya Mountains, historically know as El Escambray. In the San Luis Valley or de los Ingenios, barely 15 km away, dozens of archeological sites are preserved, including the ruins of the sugar factories and the impressive 45-meter-high Manaca-Iznaga Tower. Besides, the Ancón Península is located some 10 km from the townshipand and has several beaches and hotels, and international scuba diving center and a nautical base. Also Topes de Collantes offers special conditions that are perfect for hiking, including the Caburní waterfalls. Also, there, the Kurhotel is a recognized center of health tourism.

Trinidad evenings are animated by local groups that play traditional music very liked by tourists. Additionally, there are many places to dance and listen to different music genres.

Culture and history info

The work of crafts people, artists and painters cover the cobblestoned and lively streets, a marketing in harmony with the local sustainable project. Around the plaza mayor, in place since the township's foundation, stand the Santísima Trinidad Church and the palace Of Count Brunet, currently the Romantic Museum; very nearby the Santa Ana and Tres Cruces squares and the San Francisco Bell Tower.
