In the far northwest of the Guanahacabibes Peninsula, just 3 miles from the bedrock in which Roncali Lighthouse stands, surrounded by an environment of exuberant vegetation and the sea, lies the Villa Cabo San Antonio. The Guanahacabibes Peninsula is a region with a great part of its extension largely untouched and which has the status of a Biosphere Reserve approved by UNESCO since 1987. It has an environment with ecological paths, a wide variety of endemic flora and fauna, caves, cracks, casimbas, lagoons and cenotes (in Mexico, caves with water underground) that amaze the visitors.

This villa offers accommodation, meals a la carte, snack bar with national and international drinks, day and night activities, 8 kilometers of a beautiful and unspoiled beach and service of marine, fishing and contemplative diving activities in the nearby Marina Cabo San Antonio; there’s also sale of excursions within the nature reserve and a friendly and professional hotel staff that make the hotel a wonderful shelter in the westernmost corner of Cuba.

Sports & nature

Its sites of major interest include the península of Guanahacabibes, which shelters a great variety of flora and fauna species and Vuelta Abajo, the area where the best tobacco in the world is grown. Besides, the Viñales Valley, World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, located in the Sierra de los Órganos, is characterized by its curious mogotes, small isolated hillocks with a round surface, distinctive of the area. There you can visit the Prehistory Mural, which recreates the supposed fauna native of the Valley and the Santo Tomás Cave, the largest cave system in the America and Viñales. At Indio Caves a boat tour is carried out in the latter through an underground river that makes it possible to observe the beauty of the cave. Los Jasmines, Rancho San Vicente and La Ermita hotels are in Viñales. Also María la Gorda located in the Peninsula of Guanahcabibes, is one of the best know international scuba diving center with 32 diving sites.

Nightlife info

Pinar del Río has some nightclubs and a cabaret named Rumayor. It also has discotheques and cultural squares in each municipality to dance or listen to music.

Culture and history info

Culture and history infoPinar del Río or Vueltabajo has an important cultural tradition. Is the birthplace of great artists like the contemporary creator Pedro Pablo Oliva; and the writer Cirilo Villaverde, author of 18th century most important Cuban novel Cecilia Valdés. Also in the province was born the composer Pedro Junco, author of the renowned piece called Nosotros.The capital city has a Museum of Natural Sciences named Tranquilino Sandalio de Noda that shows the natural history of the province. Besides, there are art galleries and cultural institutions.
